|11:32 pm - [Fic and Pic] - FFVII CC - Meeting at Night (Gen/Cloud)|
Title: Meeting at Night
Fandom: FFVII Crisis Core
Summary: Cloud has a run in with someone during guard duty...
Notes: For sinnatious, who requested Genesis reciting poetry to trooper!Cloud. :D Title and poem snippets from Robert Browning's poem of the same name.
This was why Cloud hated the night shift -- weirdoes never failed to pass by his post. Was that poetry he was hearing? Cloud readjusted the grip on his rifle and readied the standard warnings: Halt, this is ShinRa property, trespassing is prohibited...
All of a sudden, a bunch of flowers were inches from his nose and he jerked back, gun raised and finger on the trigger.
"My, Cadet, you're looking lovelier and lovelier each night."
It took a moment to recognize the red leather jacket, but once he did, Cloud lowered his weapon and snapped to attention. "Sir!"
"At ease, my dear Cloud."
Cloud managed to refrain from gawking. How did Commander Rhapsodos know who he was?
"Cloud," the other man caressed his name. Cloud stood stalk-still as the Commander took his hand and brought it to his lips. Cloud shuddered at the light touch on his knuckles and clenched his fist. What the heck was going on??
"Genesis," someone called from the darkened corridor and Cloud yanked his fingers away, face by now burning. "Stop harassing the guard. We have an early morning tomorrow -- Lazard wants to meet at 0700 hours for a mission review." As the owner of the voice stepped into the light, Cloud recognized Zack's mentor, Commander Hewley, and saluted.
"Angeal," Commander Rhapsodos acknowledged but didn't step away. Commander Hewley focused on Cloud with a friendly smile.
"I should apologize for my friend, he's learned the majority of his etiquette from poems."
Commander Rhapsodos sighed, but it was quiet and Cloud only realized because he felt the air move against his eyelashes. "How I despair from being surrounded by unsophisticated barbarians."
"I've definitely heard that one before. Come on, it's three in the morning."
"Fine." Before following his friend down the hallway, Commander Rhapsodos leaned down and pressed a chaste kiss to the corner of Cloud's lips. "Good night, my dear. See you Thursday."
With that, Cloud was left alone, holding onto a bouquet of flowers and wondering how Commander Rhapsodos knew his guard duty schedule.
BONUS: ixtey requested a pic of Mother Chocobo!Genesis protecting Baby Chocobo!Cloud from something (let's say Sephiroth).
Thanks~! Merry Christmas!
